Why Choose The Esquire Club?
Found under the guidance of our Executive Director Antonio Mauldin, The Esquire Club has been instrumental in fostering enduring relationships. Mr. Mauldin, a former educator, Dallas ISD Teacher of the Year recipient, mentor, and coach has extensive experience working with students from underserved communities. Drawing from his background as an educator and his own experiences growing up in an inner-city environment, he possesses a unique ability to connect with youth in ways that are truly impactful.

Fatherless Generation Fatherless teenage boys have a higher than average risk of participating in crime, dropping out of school, and entering into the prison system before the age of 18.
Whether a boy’s father died, abandoned him, or is just emotionally unavailable, a teenage boy beginning his journey to manhood with no man to guide him will likely lose his way. Once the reality that he must figure out manhood alone sets in, his hope is replaced with despair and his innocence soon turns to anger.

The Esquire Club has had a powerful impact on the students at Wilmer-Hutchins. From the moment it launched, you could see a shift—not just in how our young men carried themselves, but in how they saw themselves. The club created a space where boys could grow into gentlemen, where expectations were high, but the support was even higher. It wasn’t just about dressing sharp or speaking respectfully—it was about building confidence, character, and community.
Students who might have otherwise stayed quiet began to step up, to lead, to represent their peers in positive ways. You could see the pride in their eyes when they shook a hand firmly, spoke with purpose, or mentored a younger student. It gave them a reason to think beyond today and to plan
for the future—not only as students, but as future professionals, leaders,
and role models.
Perhaps the biggest impact was the sense of brotherhood it built. The Esquire Club gave our boys a safe, structured environment to talk about real challenges and push one another to grow. It helped change the culture, one conversation, one gesture, one mindset at a time. It reminded us all that when you invest in a young man’s self-worth, you open up a whole new
world of possibilities for him. -- S. Gillyard WHHS E-Tech Principal
